Morgan Bagley heads for a victory at Crowley’s Ridge Raceway.
What won the race: Eighth-starting Morgan Bagley of Longview, Texas, grabbed the lead from Timothy Culp on lap 25 and marched on to capture Friday’s Comp Cams Super Dirt Series-sanctioned 40-lap Labor Day Classic at Crowley’s Ridge Raceway. Winning by a 0.963 second margin over Culp, Bagley bagged $3,000 in his Crowley’s Ridge debut.
Quotable: “We just kinda bided our time early there, starting back in the eighth position and before I knew it I was up to third and reeling in Timmy (Culp) and (Kyle) Beard,” Bagley said. “Those guys were having a heck of a battle, but then they got bottled up in lapped traffic and I took advantage. Culp had to move off the bottom to work past a lapped car and I was able to take advantage and get the lead. After that the track really started to clean up on the bottom and I knew I just had to hit my marks.”
Key notes: Bagley won his second race in a row; he'd won the previous Saturday in Louisiana Late Model Series action at Boothill Speedway in Greenwood, La. ... Bagley won his fourth career Comp Cams event. ... Bagley took advantage of Culp's slip high to grab the top spot for good on lap 25. ... Culp snatched the lead on lap 16 from race-long pacesetter Kyle Beard, whose hopes of regaining command ended on lap 24 when he smacked the frontstretch wall, inflicting damage to his car that later forced him to retire. ... Crowley's Ridge hosted the first night of a trio of $3,000-to-win Comp Cams events set for Labor Day weekend. It was the ninth visit in series history to the Paragould, Ark., oval.
On the move: Eric Cooley of Fulton, Miss., started 15th and finish ninth.
Winner's sponsors: Bagley's Rocket Chassis is powered by a Clements Racing Engine and sponsored by P&W Sales, P&W Iron Works, Junction Auto Sales, GottaRace and Weld Racing.
