What won the race: Winning Hibbing's 41st annual Labor Day Shootout opener for the second year in row, hometown driver Kyle Peterlin started from the pole position and finished ahead of sixth-starting Derek Vesel for a $3,000 victory.
Key notes: Peterlin has two career WCS victories. ... A.J. Diemel ran second the first half of the race while holding off Jake Redetzke; runner-up Derek Vesel went from fourth to second on a lap-24 restart but couldn't track down Peterlin. ... Eighteen of the 26 starters finished. … Second-starting Deven VanHouse exited early and finished 25th. … The northern Minnesota oval hosts back-to-back $3,000-win-programs to close out the Wollak Construction WISSOTA Challenge Series season.
