What won the race: Winning for the second straight night on the Ultimate Southeast Series, outside front-row starter Zack Mitchell of Enoree, S.C., led flag-to-flag Saturday at Lancaster Speedway for a $4,000 payday. Mitchell held off a hard-charging Michael Brown while polesitter Kyle Hardy finished third.
Quotable: “This thing’s been hooked up. We’re definitely pleased with it,” Mitchell said of his Barry Wright Race Car. “I’ve got of people (in the grandstands) I probably know and we just try to put on a good show."
Key notes: Mitchell, who won the previous night's series race at Lavonia (Ga.) Speedway, has five career series victories. ... Mitchell joined Ross Bailes as the tour's only repeat winner in 2019. ... Michael Brown cut down a two-second margin to just a few tenths late in the race. "Catching him and passing him is a whole another thing," Brown said. ... Fast qualifier and polesitter Kyle Hardy was third in the Billy Hicks No. 79 and battled with Brown much of the race ("Thankfully he didn't run me over again," Hardy said). ... A single yellow flag appeared for debris. ... A dozen drivers completed 40 laps.
On the move: Ross Bailes of Clover, S.C., started seventh and finished fourth.
Winner's sponsors: Mitchell’s Barry Wright Race Car is powered by a Clements Racing Engine and sponsored by Eubanks Oil, Clary Hood Inc., M&W Transport and Mechanical Edge.
Points chase: Entering the race, Zack Mitchell (323 points) of Enoree, S.C., led Daulton Wilson (256), Anthony Sanders (222), Jeff Smith (198), Dennis Franklin (162).
