What won the race: Debuting a new Capital Race Car, hometown racer Joseph Joiner cruised to his first career Southern All Star victory Saturday at Southern Raceway. Joiner, who won by 5.579 seconds, took the lead from series points leader David Breazeale on the fourth lap and led the rest of the 30-lap main event, the opener of a weekend doubleheader on the Florida panhandle.
Quotable: "I just got this car from Capital and had it ready about Tuesday," Joiner said. "(Capital's) Marshall Green called me and gave me some tips; it is a true statement to their program."
Key notes: Joiner is the 10th winner in 12 SAS events. … Eleven of the 14 starters finished, with eight completing 30 laps. … Casey Roberts who won the tour’s March visit to Southern, slipped two positions and finished fourth. … Sunday's 50-lap weekend finale pays $6,000-to-win.
