Donnie Farlling shows of his big paycheck at Bedford.
What won the race: Just two weeks after his son registered a career-first Mason-Dixon Shootout Series victory, Donnie Farlling of Newville, Pa., followed suit with a $1,500 triumph in Sunday night's 25-lap Steel Block Standoff at Bedford Speedway. The elder Farlling became the latest driver to join the Limited Late Model tour's winner's list after beating Clinton Hersh and his son, Taylor Farlling, to the finish line.
Key notes: Donnie Farlling came off the outside pole to capture the feature, which completed a busy night that began with the Mason-Dixon Series running an A-main held over from July 21. Donnie finished third in that event. ... Taylor Farlling preceded his father as Mason-Dixon winner when he captured the Aug. 17 feature at Winchester (Va.) Speedway.
On the move: Andrew Yoder of Middleburg, Pa., started 15th and finished fourth
Winner's sponsors: Farlling’s No. 48 is sponsored by Kessler’s Auto Glass, Cohick & Associates Accounting & Tax Services, Hankook, Barrick and Negley’s Trucking.
Points chase: Entering Bedford's two-race program, Andrew Yoder had 413 points to lead Devin Frey (374) and Donnie Farlling (360).
Current weather: Mostly Cloudy with Mist and Fog, 63°F
Car count: 18
Heat race winners: Devin Weyandt, Tyler Ritchey
Next series race: October 12, Port Royal Speedway (Port Royal, PA) $1,500
