What won the race: Brandon Hightower of Natchitoches, La., recorded his first-ever Louisiana Late Model Racing Series victory on Sunday night, taking the second-year tour's Labor Day Fall Nationals feature at Thunder Valley Speedway. He beat veteran Robbie Stuart to the finish line for the $2,000 top prize.
Quotable: “It’s pretty awesome to get my first Louisiana Late Model Series win, and to have to outrun a guy like Robbie Stuart, makes it that much more special,” Hightower said. “The first half of the year with the Super Late Model we battled a lot of bad luck and mechanical failures, but this car is running really well right now.”
Key notes: Mason Jordan of Baton Rouge, La., who won Saturday's series event at Chatham (La.) Raceway, finished fourth. ... Tracy Darby Jr. didn't start the feature. ... The Thunder Valley stop was the series's third visit this season to the Glenmora, La., oval.
Winner's sponsors: Hightower’s Rocket Chassis has an APE engine and sponsorship from Swamp Daddy’s Crawfish, FV Recycling, Timmons Truck Center, All Points Systems Wholesaler Copiers, AKA Construction, FabulousFloors, American Detailer Garage, Woody’s Bar & Grill, Cane River Brewing, Legacy Construction, J&J Motorsports and Litton Motorsports.
