Brandon Overton gets rolling before his $5,000 Tyler County victory.
What won the race: Picking up where he left off from last season’s Hillbilly 100 victory, third-starting Brandon Overton of Evans, Ga., won Saturday’s Earl Hill Memorial at Tyler County Speedway. Overton finished 2.125 seconds ahead of Derek Doll in the 35-lap main event in winning $5,000.
Quotable: “The car was pretty good, just a little free right there at the end. I wasn’t really as stuck as I wanted to be,” Overton said. “But that’s why we’re here. Getting a little tuneup for (Sunday's Hillbilly 100). That’s the one that counts. It’d be pretty neat to win this deal two years in a row."
Key notes: Twelve of the 18 starters completed 35 laps. … Derek Doll rallied from the rear of the field to finish second after slowing to draw a caution on the opening lap. … Tanner English’s third-place run came after the Benton, Ky., driver started 12th. … The Super Late Model special was on the second day of the three-day Hillbilly 100 weekend.
On the move: Tanner English of Benton, Ky., started 12th and finished third.
Winner's sponsors: Overton’s Rum Runner Racing Rocket Chassis is sponsored by Broward Armature & Generator, CIV Driver Optimization, Molecule, Race-Fan, Simpson Products, Darrell Gwynn Foundation, Burning Bright Band, Dean Guitars, Shell Shock and Tempest Cycles.
