Jake Redetzke in victory lane for his second career NLRA victory.
What won the race: Jake Redetzke of Eau Claire, Wis., overtook Mike Balcaen on the 18th lap Thursday at River Cities Speedway and captured the Northern LateModel Racing Association season finale. He earned $1,392 in the Prelude to the Johnny.
Quotable: "(Third-place finisher Mike Balcaen) ran a good race," Redetzke said. "It just kind of got really choppy there, and I was just like, 'I'm committed to the bottom right now.' (Balcaen) just kind of slid up. I think one (car) was blowing up; he was throwing water on the track and it was kind of hard to steer, and Mikey kind of slid up a little bit."
Key notes: Redetzke's only previous NLRA victory came June 23, 2011, at Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo, N.D. ... Shane Edginton led the first three laps but Mike Balcaen went ahead on the race's lone restart. ... The early caution appeared for a slowing Trent Grager. ... Shane Edginton won the second heat from ninth starting spot. ... Cody Skytland finished ninth the No. 15 normally driven by Donny Schatz. ... NLRA’s season finale provided a tuneup for the $9,200-to-win John Seitz Memorial at River Cities, a two-day non-touring event for WISSOTA Late Models being held for the 13th time.
On the move: Hometown driver Brad Seng started 15th and finished eighth.
Winner's sponsors: Redetzke's MB Customs Race Car is sponsored by Dynamic Fabrication and Finishing and Champ Pans.
Points chase: Brad Seng of Grand Forks, N.D., secured his fourth series championship by eight points over Shane Edginton.
