Mike Pegher Jr. heads for his first career ULMS victory.
What won the race: Mike Pegher Jr. of Cranberry Township, Pa., earned his first career Zimmer's United Late Model Series victory Friday at Thunder Mountain Speedway in the Mark O'Donnell Memorial. Pegher regained the lead from Dave Blazavich with 11 laps remaining for the $3,013 victory, then fought off series champ Max Blair's last-lap crossover move to win by 0.121 seconds.
Key notes: Pegher survived contact with brother-in-law Max Blair on a late restart that nearly got Pegher sideways entering turn one. ... Mike Pegher Jr. led early before a high-running Dave Blazavich took over after a lap-10 restart. ... Pegher regained the lead amid heavy traffic and Blazavich was shuffled back battling with runner-up Max Blair, Chad McClellan and David Scott. ... Thunder Mountain hosted the ULMS finale. ...
