What won the race: Matthew Nance of Ronda, N.C., outdueled polesitter John Eller on the first lap and dominated Saturday at Lake View Motor Speedway for his series-leading ninth Blue Ridge Outlaw victory of the season. Nance took the checkers ahead of Dean Bowen while Eller ended up 11th.
Quotable: “We didn’t have no power steering all night, so we had to try and try to free the car up for the feature and it made the car turn on its own,” Nance said. “We didn’t have enough power steering to really get turned. It hurt us in qualifying and it really hurt us trying to run on the outside in the dash. … Feature time, we fired off pretty good, but we were getting a whole lot better as the race went on."
Key notes: Nance and Eller made contact on the first lap; Eller ended up spinning when Nance lapped him later in the race. … Eller earned $150 for fast time and $250 for winning the dash. … Johnny Pridgen, winner of the tour’s April 6 stop at Lake View, finished sixth. … Officials called for single-file restarts after a few hairy double-wide restarts. … Series points leader Brandon O’Neil was disqualified for exiting his car on the track. ... Dustin Perritt was also disqualified.
Winner's sponsors: Nance's Longhorn Chassis is powered by an Automotive Specialist powerplant and sponsored by Crossroads Harley-Davidson, Diversified Finishers, Sheperds Home Improvement, Automotive Specialists, Tom Cat Performance, Ed's Cafe and Frontier Natural Gas.
Points chase: Entering the event, Brandon O’Neil (678) led series points over Mark Dysart (598) and Chuck Smith (512).
