Max Blair (111) takes the lead from Mike Knight (9) Friday at Eriez.
What won the race: Reclaiming the lead from Mike Knight on lap 30, Max Blair of Centerville, Pa., led the final 10 circuits to win Friday’s September Sweep opener at Eriez Speedway. Blair, who led the first eight laps from the pole before giving way to Chad Wright, finished 1.751 seconds ahead of Knight. He earned $4,000 for his 10th Super Late Model victory at Eriez this season.
Key notes: Blair and Wright were battling for the lead on lap 21 when the two made contact, allowing Knight to get by. … Knight took the lead on lap 23 but jumped the cushion in turn one on lap 30, letting Blair retake the lead. … A caution waved on lap two for a spin by Matt Urban. … Joel Watson and Wendell Pinckney were among drivers involved in a chain-reaction crash on the front straightaway on a lap-two restart. … Three more cautions appeared before they completed lap five. … Super Late Models highlight the seventh annual September Sweep again on Saturday with a $6,000-to-win event.
