Chub Frank picks up his $6,000 paycheck at Eriez Speedway.
What won the race: Earning his richest victory in eight seasons, Chub Frank of Bear Lake, Pa., pocketed $6,000 Saturday at Eriez Speedway by capturing the caution-free finale of the unsanctioned September Sweep for Super Late Models. Frank took the checkers ahead of eighth-row starter Rusty Schlenk and seventh-row starter Max Blair, the track champ.
Quotable: “The track was racy. You could actually move all over the place,” Frank said. “The bottom was tough because of that hole down in (turn) one, but that’s what it makes it nice if you can figure a way to get through that."
Key notes: Frank scored his richest victory since a $13,000 payday on Sept. 24, 2011, in Zimmer's United Late Model Series action at McKean County Raceway in East Smethport, Pa., $13,000 (Chub Frank) 2011. ... Frank credited a couple of last-minute shock changes for helping his car perform. ... Super Late Models highlighted the seventh annual September Sweep with a $4,000-to-win event Friday won by Max Blair of Centerville, Pa., and Saturday's finale.
On the move: Rusty Schlenk of McClure, Ohio, started 15th and finished second.
Winner's sponsors: Frank’s Club 29 Race Car is powered by an Andy Durham Racing Engine and sponsored by Sorbera Family Chiropractic, Corry Rubber Corporation, Lake Shore Paving, Allstar Performance and Slavic Shirts and Decals.
Points chase: Max Blair of Centerville, Pa., is the 2019 track champion.
