What won the race: Rolling to his fifth series win of the season, Booger Brooks of Chattanooga, Tenn., won Friday’s Stars and Bars Championship weekend opener at Georgia’s Patriots Park Raceway, earning $1,000 for the effort.
Key notes: From his outside front-row starting spot, Phillip Pittman grabbed the lead in turn one on the opening lap, but Brooks rallied back to take the lead off of turn four. The two raced side-by-side of the first two laps with Pittman edging ahead until a caution slowed the pace. … Pittman led on the restart, but spun on the next lap, collecting Wiley McDaniel while handing the lead to Brooks. ... The Red Clay Series visited Patriots Park for the first time. ... Action continued Saturday at Patriots Park for the second night of Red Clay Series Stars and Bars Championship. ... A $500 bounty was placed on Brooks, who had won five of seven tour event this season.
