Tanner English emerges from his car at Clarksville Speedway.
What won the race: Tanner English of Benton, Ky., took advantage of his front-row starting position and dominated Saturday's Fall Classic at Clarksville Speedway, leading all 30 laps for a $3,950 payday.
Quotable: “I knew I had a good car from the first laps on the track in hot laps. The car was real good and it just felt smooth ever since we unloaded,” English said. “I was pretty confident, but you never know about this deal. Anything can happen, and I’m pretty sure it did back behind me. But that’s a plus about starting up front here. You get out in clean air and the only thing you gotta mess with is lapped cars. It’s a little tough, bu it was good racing."
Key notes: In a race slowed by four cautions within the first eight laps, Tanner English enjoyed clean air from his front-row starting position and never looked back. ... Among the tangles was a frontstretch scrape between Terry English (the winner's father) and Dewayne Kiefer that continued with English's retaliation during the ensuing caution period. ... Tanner English kept Jay Scott of Fayetteville, Tenn., at bay throughout the second half of the feature to win Clarksville's season finale. ... Following the rash of cautions within the race's first eight laps, the final 22 circuits were completed without incident, allowing Scott to shave two seconds off English's lead, while he was stuck in lapped traffic in the closing laps. ... Scott couldn't keep pace though, as he settled for second place, finishing 4.444 seconds behind English. ... Clarksville had to make repairs from serious wind damage to the grandstands and other parts of the facility from the previous weekend.
