Chuck Cumby leads the way in wrapping up the series title.
What won the race: Topping Richard Ferry by 1.172 seconds Saturday night at Volusia Speedway Park, Chuck Cumby of Jacksonville, Fla., picked up his fifth Florida Late Model Challenge Series win of the season.
Key notes: Winner of the last three Florida Late Model Challenge Series races, Cumby won half the tour events this season, including three at Volusia. ... Fifteen of the 21 starters completed 25 laps. ... Runner-up Shan Smith of Dade City, Fla., who leads the third-year tour with six career victories, won last year’s season-finale at Volusia. ... The series visited Volusia for the tour and track season-finale. … The Nov. 23 series race at the half-mile Barberville facility was rained out midway through the modified feature. … Jared Allison, Chuck Cumby, Cameron Saunders and Dustin Thayer were heat winners among the 37 entrants, but Saturday’s make-up will start from scratch. … It’s the 11th visit in series history.
