Booger Brooks heads to a $5,000 victory Saturday at Clarksville Speedway.
What won the race: Leading all 30 laps, Booger Brooks of Chattanooga, Tenn., grabbed a $5,000 Super Late Model victory Saturday at Clarksville Speedway, winning the finale of the 16th annual Tuckasee Toilet Bowl Classic. Brooks took the checkers 0.729 seconds ahead of Brian Shirley.
Quotable: “With (the track) being rubbered up like that, you just stay in the bottom,” Brooks said. “I didn’t ever think they could pass me on the outside there, so we just stayed down there and … we wasn’t blocking … just holding our own line there. This Savage Race Car was on kill tonight. We didn’t change nothing on this thing all weekend. I just told ‘em we had a fast race car, just leave it alone and don’t touch it.”
Key notes: Brooks, who has primarily focused on Crate and Limited Late Model action in recent seasons, pilots the Savage Chassis house car out of Jason Welshan's Competition Racing Equipment shop. ... Brooks finished fourth in Friday's opener. ... Friday's $3,000 Super Late Model winner Tanner English of Benton, Ky., finished ninth Saturday. ... Brooks, runner-up Brian Shirley and Donald McIntosh scored top-five finishes both nights. ... McIntosh was third both nights. ... Fifteen of Saturday's 23 starters completed 30 laps in the DIRTcar event.
Winner's sponsors: Brooks drives the Savage Chassis house car powered by a Clements Race Engine and sponsored by Hidden Hollow Motorsports, C&J Trucking, R&W Properties, Robert Skinner Racing, PPM and Converter Man.
Points chase: Brian Shirley of Chatham, Ill., is the reigning DIRTcar champion.
