What won the race: Sliding ahead of Mark Whitener in the final five laps of Saturday night’s rescheduled World Championships at Cochran Motor Speedway, 17th-starting Kyle Bronson of Brandon, Fla., edged Whitener by 0.263 seconds to capture a $10,000 victory.
Key notes: Bronson completed his winning rally after winning one of the two consolation races. ... He now has $23,500 in first-place winning from Crate races this season. ... Fifth-starting Mark Whitener overtook polesitter Joseph Brown early in the feature, but got caught in lapped-traffic in the final five laps, allowing Bronson to get by for the win. … Brown slipped to fourth after leading early. ... The $10,000-to-win Crate Late Model race was the continuation of the Dec. 28 Durrance Layne World Championships, which was rained out after the opening day. … The event drew 39 entrants back in December. … Will Herrington won Saturday night's $5,000-to-win street stock feature. … Cochran hosts the $5,000-to-win Newsome Crate Racin’ USA Winter Series finale on Sunday.
