Jesse Stovall kicks up dirt en route to his $3,000 victory.
What won the race: Pole-starting Jesse Stovall of Billings, Mo., led all the way Thursday at Outlaw Motor Speedway, turning back a challenge from previous night's Lucas Oil Midwest LateModel Racing Association winner Johnny Scott for a $3,000 victory.
Quotable: "I knew it was going to be a fight to stay on that bottom there and that the guys behind me would have to race me clean and only take a position if they could get it," Stovall said. "The track kind of latched down a little bit and had some rough character to it that didn't allow to go around wide open, and you had to watch what you were doing getting into the corners and stuff."
Key notes: Stovall notched his 26th career MLRA victory. ... Runner-up Johnny Scott won his first MLRA victory a night earlier at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo. ... Three cautions slowed the action, including on the 12th lap when Tony Toste and Jordan Yaggy got together. ... Jeremy Conaway spun for a late caution but Stovall kept Scott in check and won by 0.654 seconds. ... Payton Looney was the only driver under 18 seconds in time trials; he finished eighth in the feature. ... MLRA visited the Muskogee-area track for the first time since 2014. ... Thursday's event is the second of a four-race stretch of action among Outlaw, Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo., and Salina (Okla.) Highbanks Speedway. ... The Outlaw race was promoted by Joe Duvall and Club 91 Promotions (Duvall competed, winning a consolation race).
On the move: Reigning MLRA champ Will Vaught of Crane, Mo., started 12th and finished fourth.
Winner's sponsors: Stovall’s Black Diamond Chassis is powered by a Scott Bailey Racing Engine and sponsored by Dirt Track Bank, Swafford’s Service, Metal Magic Auto Hail Repair, Lucas Oil, Midwest Sheet Metal and J.J. Propane.
Points chase: After Outlaw: 1. Chad Simpson (895); 2. Tony Jackson Jr. (860): 3. Payton Looney (840); 4. Jeremiah Hurst (780); 5. Will Vaught (770).
