What won the race: Spencer Hughes of Meridian, Miss., topped an early battle with Jon Mitchell then turned back challenges from Logan Martin to emerge victorious in Saturday's 40-lap Comp Cams Super Dirt Series-sanctioned Will McGary Memorial at I-30 Speedway. The rising 19-year-old beat Martin to the finish line by 1.699 seconds to earn $5,000 for his second Comp Cams Super Dirt Series victory.
Key notes: Hughes's second career Comp Cams triumph came just nine days after his first on July 2 at ArkLaTex Speedway in Vivian, La. … Hughes spent the race's early stages battling for the lead with Jon Mitchell; Mitchell led laps 1-2, 8-9 and 11-12, while Hughes paced laps 3-7 and 10 before gaining command for good on lap 13. ... Martin overtook Mitchell for second on lap 28 and briefly challenge Hughes before losing ground over the final 10 circuits. ... Mitchell settled for a third-place finish. ...
