Dona Marcoullier earned $10,000 at Tri-County Motor Speedway.
What won the race: Dona Marcoullier of Houghton Lake, Mich., overtook fellow front-row starter Travis Stemler on the 18th lap and led the rest of Saturday's Allstar Performance Challenge 75-lapper at Tri-City Motor Speedway for a $10,000 payday. He lapped all but three competitors in taking the checkers by three seconds over runner-up Rusty Schenk.
Quotable: "We probably put three different setups on the race car before the race, trying to figure out what would work," Marcoullier said. "We just kind of went back to our basic deal and it was so awesome. You could drive anywhere, top or bottom."
Key notes: Marcoullier, winner of the track's $10,000 DIRTcar Summer Nationals event last month, has nearly $30,000 in winner's purse earnings over the last four weekends. ... Marcoullier also clinched the track title. ... Marcoullier had a scare when he tangled with the lapped car of Cody Bauer entering turn three, but he survived unscathed. ... Marcoullier also survived Preston DeShano's spin in front of him while he was running second early. ... Polesitter Travis Stemler, who led the first 17 laps, settled for third but locked up the Allstar Performance Challenge miniseries between Merritt and Tri-City Motor, tracks owned by Mike Blackmer. ... The 75-lapper's most serious incident was a backstretch pileup of eight cars triggered when Greg Gokey and Eric Spangler got together on lap 31; Spangler's car briefly got airborne and under the nose of Tyler Norton's car as they collected onrushing cars. ... Saturday's runner-up Rusty Schlenk of McClure, Ohio, and Marcoullier captured Friday's split field semifeatures.
On the move: David Mielke of Gladwin, Mich., started 11th and finished sixth.
Winner's sponsors: Marcoullier's Black Diamond Race Car is powered by a Ryhne Competition Engine with sponsorship from Patrick Plumbing, Dennis Craft Construction, Rosebrugh Construction, Jimmy's Collision, Todd Roseburg Trucking, Randall's Collision, Roscommon Auto Recyclers, McBain Body Shop, Wilds True Value, Quickcar Racing, Allstar Performance and KBC Graphics.
Points chase: Travis Stemler of Ionia, Mich., clinched the Allstar Performance points title.
