What won the race: Former series champ Ross Bailes dogged fellow front-row starter Trent Ivey 26 laps before making the winning pass, then edged away Tuesday at Laurens County Speedway to win the Great Southern Homes Shrine Race. Bailes earned $3,500 for his 16th career Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series vitory.
Quotable: "I started working the top a little bit and I could get a run underneath (Trent Ivey) going down the straightaway," Bailes said. "We had a really good car. Trent, I think his car kind of went away in lapped traffic, and ours was more maneuverable, I believe."
Key notes: The annual Great Southern Homes 39th Shrine Race was originally scheduled for June 9 but postponed . ... The series also announced Saturday’s event at County Line Raceway in Elm City, N.C., has been removed from the schedule because the track can't host fans because of state attendance restrictions. ... Clash officials also announced an Oct. 23 makeup date for the Buck Simmons Memorial at Lavonia (Ga.) Speedway; the race was originally scheduled for Aug. 7 but postponed.
On the move: Kenny Collins of Colbert, Ga., started 10th and finished seventh.
