Rick Hearnsberger rolls around I-30 Speedway in SOLMS action.
What won the race: After crossing the finish second behind Timothy Culp of Prattsville, Ark., Rick Hearnsberger of Arkadelphia, Ark., was elevated to victory in Saturday’s Southern Outlaw Late Model Series feature at I-30 Speedway when Culp’s car failed post-race inspection. Hearnsberger earned $1,000 for his series-leading sixth victory.
Key notes: Culp, who was driving Wesley Wise’s No. 7w, was disqualified post-race for reportedly having the wrong chip in his car’s MSD. … Hearnsberger hasn’t finished worse than third while winning six of the tour’s nine events in 2020. … Wise was driving his father’s No. 7. … Derrick Nichols drove the No. 44B usually driven by Buddy Wilkins, who broke his hand last week. … Wilkins wanted to compete but couldn’t get his fire suit over his cast. … Randal Griffin, Matt Cardenas, Bobby Blankenship and Paul McAllister did not start the feature.
On the move: Tim Baker started 15th and finished ninth.
Winner's sponsors: Hearnsberger's Rocket Chassis is powered by a Keith Craft Racing Engine and sponsored by Mid-State Golf Cars, Clark's NAPA, Tommy Surrett Trucking and DCR.
Points chase: Rick Hearnsberger (1,039 points) of Arkadelphia, Ark., leads Terry Henson (997). Wesley Wise (725), Ross Farmer (504) and Cole Farmer (495).
