What won the race: Scoring his first career Schaeffer’s Iron-Man Series victory, third-starting Ryan King of Seymour, Tenn., outran Devin Gilpin to capture Saturday night's 40-lap feature at Lake Cumberland Speedway. The Warrior house car driver earned $5,000.
Key notes: King inherited the lead on lap eight when race-long pacesetter Michael Chilton slowed with a flat tire. The 29-year-old driver was never headed en route to beating Gilpin by 1.140 seconds. … Chilton, who won the previous night’s Iron-Man feature at Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, Ky., did not return to the feature. … Cameron Marlar recovered from a pit stop for a flat tire on lap eight to finish third, reaching the spot with three laps remaining. … Seeking his first win of 2020, Hall of Famer Scott Bloomquist started from the pole position and never led a lap but was running second when a flat right-rear tire caused him to draw a caution flag. He pitted and returned to finish seventh. … Six caution flags slowed the race. Lake Cumberland hosted its second Schaeffer’s Iron-Man Series event in as many weeks; the tour returns to the track on Oct. 10.
On the move: Camaron Marlar of Winfield, Tenn., started 16th and finished third.
Winner's sponsors: King’s Warrior Race Car powered by a Vic Hill Race Engine and carries sponsorship form Warrior 1G Performance, Brian King Roofing, Turkey Creek Snacks, Roberts Bee Company, Mighty Muffler and PTSD Awareness Racing.
Points chase: King extended his points lead, leaving Lake Cumberland with a 55-point edge (740-685) over Chilton.
