Cory Dumpert celebrates his Malvern Bank West Series victory on the undercard of Saturday's I-80 Nationals.
What won the race: Polesitter Cory Dumpert of York, Neb., was flawless in scoring a flag-to-flag victory in Saturday night's 20-lap non-points Malvern Bank West Super Late Model Series feature at I-80 Speedway. He earned $1,200 for beating Bill Leighton Jr. to the finish line by 0.912 seconds.
Key notes: Dumpert recorded his second career win on the Malvern Bank-sponsored tour; his previous checkered flag came earlier this year, on July 12 at Boone County Raceway in Albion, Neb. ... Leighton started and finished second. ... The 2019 IMCA Late Model national champion offered special thanks to veteran Nebraska racer Al Humphrey and his wife Lori, who provided the engine that Dumpert bolted in his car on Saturday morning. ... The non-points event was run on the undercard of Saturday's Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series-sanctioned I-80 Nationals finale.
On the move: Kale Kosiski of Ralston, Neb., started 18th and finished 11th.
Winner's sponsors: Dumpert’s winning Swartz Race Car No. 77 is sponsored by Dekalb, LG Plumbing, Trotter Fertilizer, Go Lithium, BSB Mfg., Friesen Performance and Doran Post & Associates.
Points chase: Tad Pospisil (1,268) leads the Malvern Bank West points standings over Bill Leighton (1,192) and Kyle Berck (1,188).
