Ricky Weiss heads to an NLRA victory at Viking Speedway.
What won the race: Front-row starter Ricky Weiss of Headingley, Manitoba, outdueled Jeff Wildung of Nassau, Minn., for a $1,600 payday in the first of two Labor Day weekend events for the Northern LateModel Racing Association at Viking Speedway. Weiss and Wildung battled for the lead until Wildung broke while running second on lap 17.
Key notes: Track points leader Eric Breeschoten of Buffalo, Minn., finished second. ... Weiss notched his 12th career series victory and second of 2014. ... He also won the season-opening race at Viking on May 24. ... Shawn Kirwin of Morris, Minn., debuting a new Rocket Chassis, crossed the line third but was disqualified for a rules infraction. ... Seventeen cars were running at the finish. ... All-State Peterbilt and Beck's Radiator are sponsoring the weekend.
On the move: Zach Johnson of Kensington, Minn., rallied from 14th to third; Don Shaw of Ham Lake, Minn., started 15th and finished fifth.
