Dillon Brown picked up $2,000 in the All-Stars opener at Charlotte.
What won the race: Leading all 25 laps, fast qualifier and polesitter Dillon Brown of Gaffney, S.C., grabbed the $2,000 American All-Star Series victory in Saturday’s The Carolina Sizzler opener at the Dirt Track at Charlotte. He took the checkers 1.200 seconds ahead of Matt Henderson.
Key notes: With time restraints limiting the program, time trials set the grid for the feature with no heat races or consolation events. … The Crate Late Models of the American All-Star Series Presented by PPM Racing Products helped kick off The Dirt Track at Charlotte’s two-day Carolina Sizzler on Saturday with a $2,000-to-win event. … The race served as a tuneup for Sunday’s $10,000-to-win All-Stars show, which runs on the undercard to a $20,000-to-win unsanctioned Super Late Model special. … Saturday’s program also featured a $3,000-to-win Limited Late Model race co-sanctioned by the Vision Wheel Topless Outlaw Series and the Steel Block Bandits Dirt Late Model Challenge, plus a $1,000-to-win show for the 602 Late Models of the Red Clay Series.
On the move: Mack McCarter of Gatlinburg, Tenn., started 18th and finished fourth.
