Key notes: On-and-off rain forced the postponement of the Schaeffer's Southern Nationals event. The race was rescheduled for Aug. 1 as a non-points event. ... Drivers in attendance at Volunteer get 50 showup points toward the championship. ... After Saturday's rainout at Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat, Va., Volunteer Speedway was slated to host the second round of the Ray Cook-promoted tour. ... The series kicked off its 17th season Friday at Beckley (W.Va.) Motorsports Park where Josh Rice of Verona, Ky., scored a $10,053 victory, his first-ever with the Ray Cook-promoted tour. … Volunteer was set to host the series for the 10th time. ... Chris Madden of Gray Court, S.C., won last year’s visit, which was the first since 2013. … Madden, Jimmy Owens of Newport, Tenn., and Tommy Kerr of Maryville, Tenn., have two series wins each at Volunteer. … Sportsman, street stocks, classics and front-wheel drives were on the undercard.
