What won the race: Leading all 40 laps of Saturday night's Shamrock feature at Boyd's Speedway, second-starting Ricky Weiss of Headingley, Manitoba, earned his first career victory with the Ultimate Southeast Super Late Model Series. The Canadian beat Payton Freeman to the finish line by 0.888 of a second for the $5,000 top prize.
Key notes: Winless in 2021, Weiss registered his first victory with his self-designed Sniper Chassis. Weiss's last win was an American All-Star Series Crate event on Nov. 13, 2020, at Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tenn. ... Freeman maintained pace with Weiss throughout the race, but settled for the runner-up money. ... Jimmy Owens completed the podium in third. ... The first-ever Ultimate Southeast event at Boyd's was completed green-to-checkered without incident and lasted only 11 minutes. ... Twelve competitors completed all 40 laps.
On the move: Jadon Frame of Winchester, Tenn., started 10th and finished eighth.
