What won the race: Leading all 50 laps from the pole, Justin Reed of Camp Point, Ill., won Saturday's Garry Swibold Memorial feature at Peoria Speedway, topping the DIRTcar Super Late Model field for a $5,098 payday. It was the richest victory of his career and his first Super Late Model checkered flag since June 5, 2016, at Adams County Speedway in Quincy, Ill.
Key notes: Moving into the runner-up position on a lap-48 restart, hometown driver Todd Bennett finished 0.544 seconds behind Reed. ... Rusty Schlenk of McClure, Ohio, also gained a position on the late-race restart and finished third after starting 10th, while Mike Spatola of Manhattan, Ill., faded in the closing laps and finished fourth. ... After running second and third throughout the entire race, Bob Gardner and Myles Moos tangled on lap 46, with the incident ending their nights and relegating them to finishes of 14th and 15th, respectively. ... After winning Peoria's season opener on April 16, hometown driver Mike Chasteen Jr. retired on lap 11 and was credited with 20th after being disqualified for crew misbehavior. ... Saturday's Garry Swibold Memorial honored the late father of racer Cole Swibold of Fairview, Ill., who passed away Jan. 16, 2022. ... The feature was slowed by four incidents and lasted 29 minutes, with 12 competitors completing all 50 laps. … Peoria hosts the DIRTcar Summer Nationals on June 15.
