What won the race: Leading all 40 laps, outside front-row starter Seth McCormack of Muscle Shoals, Ala., captured Friday’s Salute to America Nationals opener at Moulton Speedway over Doug Van Den Brink and Jason Markewitz. McCormack collected $2,000 and celebrated in victory lane with his daughter Millie and other team members.
Key notes: A first-lap pileup in turn one involved several drivers. ... Fast qualifier and polesitter Oakley Johns of Hohenwald, Tenn., was credited with a 21st-place finish after retiring on the second circuit. ... Jimmy Thomas ended his night on the end of a hook and lost the series points lead to Jason Welshan. ...
