Eli Beets gets rolling at Lake Cumberland Speedway.
What won the race: Polesitter Eli Beets of Knoxville, Tenn., cruised to win Saturday's Hall of Fame 40 feature at Lake Cumberland Speedway, earning his fourth career victory with the Valvoline Iron-Man Series and $5,000. The youngster beat Ricky Weiss of Headingley, Manitoba, to the finish line by 0.504 of a second in the 40-lap race.
Key notes: Beets remained hot in Valvoline Iron-Man action at Lake Cumberland, adding the triumph to May 14 and May 29 tour wins at the 3/8-mile oval. ... Camaron Marlar started and finished third. ... Eighth-starting Michael Chilton advanced four positions to place fourth. ... The feature lasted 45 minutes, with 12 competitors completing the entire distance. ... Saturday was Hall of Fame Night at Lake Cumberland honoring three former Late Model racers among those entering the track's Hall of Fame: the late Paul Feistritzer of Danville, Ky.; Delane Browning of East Bernstadt, Ky.; and Joey Daniel of Liberty, Ky. ... Among other inductees was Larry Yantz, a Late Model team owner who also promoted Ponderosa Speedway and Richmond Raceway.
