What won the race: Ashton Winger of Senoia, Ga., took the lead on lap 25 and paced the final 16 circuits at Magnolia Motor Speedway, winning Friday's $4,000 portion of the Cotton Pickin' 100. Hometown driver Neil Baggett led laps 2-24 and finished 2.303 seconds behind Winger.
Quotable: "It just goes to show how good this car is," Winger said. "The racetrack was pretty opposite on both ends. It was pretty rough and treacherous down (in turns one and two). If you could get through there pretty good, you could carry good speed off of two and launch you down into three."
Key notes: Brian Rickman moved into third place on lap 31 and rounded out the podium at his hometown track. ... Payton Freeman followed Rickman in the low line in the closing laps and finished fourth. ... Mason Oberkramer led the first lap from the pole before fading to finish fifth. ... Following his $3,000 Comp Cams Super Dirt Series win at Magnolia on Thursday, Billy Moyer Jr. of Batesville, Ark., finished sixth. ... Cade Dillard advanced eight positions and finished eighth, while Chad Thrash gained five spots and finished 10th. ... Friday's feature, the opener for Magnolia's Cotton Pickin’ 100 weekend, which features a $12,000-to-win finale on Saturday, was slowed by one caution and lasted 15 minutes, with 15 competitors completing 40 laps.
On the move: Payton Freeman of Commerce, Ga., started 12th and finished fourth.
Winner's sponsors: Winger's Big Frog Motorsports Rocket Chassis is powered by a Clements Racing Engine and sponsored by M&W Transport, Dave’s Towing, VP Racing Fuels, Integra Racing Shocks, Keyser Manufacturing, Ocala Restuarant Supply, Super K Express and FK Rod Ends.
