Jeremy Wonderling swept the Topless Nationals at Genesee.
What won the race: Continuing his stellar season at Genesee Speedway, second-starting Jeremy Wonderling of Wellsville, N.Y., cruised to his second win of the weekend in Saturday’s RUSH Crate Late Model Series Topless Nationals finale. He earned $3,000 for his 10th win of the season at Genesee.
Quotable: "The racetrack was pretty much telling everyone to put hard tires on. I was trying to keep the car as straight as I could. The caution came out and (Chad) Homan pulled up next to me. I know he’s really good — especially on (Hoosier) 55s," Wonderling said. "The car takes off really good so as long as I hit my marks I thought I’d be OK. I knew the biggest thing was beating him into the corner enough so he couldn’t put a slide job on me, which is part of the game. I saw him underneath me a couple times, but I knew he never got a good enough run to actually put a slide job on me.”
Key notes: Wonderling has captured seven consecutive features at the third-mile oval. ... Genesee hosted the RUSH tour for the third and final time of 2022 (Chad Homan won a spring visit). ... Billy DuBois won the non-qualifiers' race. ... RUSH points leader Logan Roberson skipped the weekend to compete in the Fastrak World Championship in his home state of Virginia.
On the move: Bryce Davis of Canisteo, N.Y., started 22nd and finished eighth.
Winner's sponsors: Wonderling’s Longhorn Chassis is sponsored by Shuttleworth Auto Sales, Terry Prince Contracting, Cummings Trucking and Close Racing Supply.
