Speedway to capture the $5,000 FALS Frenzy weekend opener. Babb's victory was the eighth of his career with the MARS Racing Series.
Quotable: "It feels really good," Babb said. "Fairbury is always a blast and tonight it was mach speed, it was really fast qualifying and nobody really knew what to do. I'm just tickled to death with this Longhorn Chassis. Ever since we got it, it's improved our summer."
Key notes: Babb recorded his second win of 2022 but first in his Longhorn chassis that he debuted in early August. ... After earning a career-high $15,000 payday in last year's FALS Frenzy finale, Frank Heckenast Jr. of Frankfort, Ill., slowed during the first heat race and scratched for the remainder of the night. ... Friday's feature, the MARS tour's third visit of the season to Fairbury, was completed without a caution-causing incident and lasted 10 minutes, with 14 competitors completing all 40 laps. … Friday's Modified runner-up, Mike Harrison, is slated to drive Steve Lampley’s No. 33 Rocket Chassis (recently piloted by Brian Shirley) in Saturday's $15,000-to-win FALS Frenzy finale.
