Michael Norris picked up a hometown victory worth $3,500.
What won the race: Overcoming a late-race challenge from Jared Miley, Michael Norris regained the lead on lap 28 and paced the final three circuits Saturday at Lernerville Speedway in capturing his second consecutive $3,500 Steel City Stampede victory. The home-track racer led all but one lap en route to his sixth career Zimmer's United Late Model Series feature win.
Quotable: "We haven’t had the results to show it, but we’ve had a pretty solid year, and this is a good way to cap it off," Norris said. "This car has been really good to me, but I feel like lately it’s been letting me down, I think it finally got its monkey off its back."
Key notes: Jared Miley of Pittsburgh, Pa., led lap 27 before being overtaken by Norris and finishing 0.565 of a second back. Miley's second place finish securd his second career ULMS title (he was also champ in 2015). ... Matt Lux moved into third place on lap two and held that position the rest of the way. ... Ryan Montgomery overcame early trouble and finished fourth. ... Levi Yetter advanced six positions and finished sixth. ... Mike Miller gained eight spots and finished seventh. ... John Garvin Jr. ran inside the top-five before retiring on lap 22. ... Polesitter Clay Ruffo failed to complete a lap and finished 20th. ... Ron Hall and Cory Sines scratched from the feature. ... Saturday's feature, the 14th annual Steel City Stampede and the ULMS 2022 season finale, was slowed by five cautions and lasted 29 minutes, with eight competitors completing all 30 laps. ... Logan Roberson won the night's RUSH Series feature for Crate Late Models.
On the move: Dave Stamm of Mifflinburg, Pa., started 18th and finished ninth.
