What won the race: Getting the jump from outside the front row, Casey Roberts of Toccoa, Ga., led all 50 laps to outrun Russell Erwin of Beaverdam, Va., for his second consecutive Race for the Kids victory. Roberts collected $10,000 in the Ultimate Super Late Model Series season finale at County Line Raceway. Polesitter Chris Ferguson of Mount Holly, N.C., slipped back to finish fifth.
Quotable: "It was just a good night for us," said Roberts, who took the checkers four seconds ahead of Erwin. "It's a great way to end the year, for sure. I thank all these fans for coming out in the cold weather. I know it's pretty brutal up there, I'm sure. Just thank the good Lord for blessing me and my family here."
Key notes: Roberts tops the Ultimate series all-time win list with 12 career victories. . ... His No. 101 showed some right-rear and driver's door body damage in victory lane. "The car don't look all that great, but it didn't affect the handling, I don't think," he said. ... Runner-up Russell Erwin, who survived a mid-race spin in an incident involving Willie Milliken, was the winner of the Ultimate event at County Line on May 16. ... Casey Barrow ran as high as fourth before fading and retiring after 38 laps. ... Ten of 24 starters completed 50 laps. ... Jason Covert and Anthony Sanders got the worst of a first-lap scramble and never completed a lap. ... Chris Ferguson collected a $200 bonus for setting the overall fast time; he finished fifth. ... K.C. Burdette of Parkersburg, W.Va., captured the modified portion of the Race for the Kids event.
On the move: Dan Stone of Thompson, Pa., received hard charger honors. He advanced from the 12th starting spot to finish sixth.
