Nick Anvelink heads to victory in heat action ahead of his feature triumph.
What won the race: Pole-starting Nick Anvelink of Bonduel, Wis., led all 25 laps Saturday at Shawano Speedway, topping the Wabam Dirt Kings Tour field for $1,500. He earned his 23rd career win on the tour — further extending his all-time series lead — and notched his fifth checkered flag at Shawano.
Key notes: Anvelink notched his 91st career Shawano victory; he's one victory behind all-time leader and Hall of Fame driver Pete Parker of Kaukauna, Wis. ... Seventh-starting Troy Springborn moved into the runner-up position on lap 15 and finished 2.416 seconds behind the victor. ... After winning a main event the previous weekend at Shawano, Ron Berna advanced five positions and finished fourth. ... Kyle Raddant gained 10 spots to finish eighth. ...
