Drake Troutman ran the high line to lead all 50 laps for $10,000 at Davenport.
What won the race: Committed to running the high line, second-starting Drake Troutman of Hyndman, Pa., held off a late three-wide challenge from Garrett Alberson and Bob Gardner to lead all 50 laps at Davenport Speedway, winning Tuesday's $10,000 Hoker Trucking 50 feature and securing his first career MARS Late Model Championship Series victory.
Quotable: “I appreciate it, gotta give a huge thanks to (my crew), they did an awesome job of giving me (signal) sticks there, that way I could keep these tires up underneath me for once this year,” Troutman said. “The track was really good all night and thanks to those guys for racing me clean, of course Garrett (Alberson), he’s one of the best in the business and it was definitely pretty nerve wracking there the last 15 laps, kept showing his nose there on the bottom.”
Key notes: Troutman earned his first Midwestern victory after running much of the DIRTcar Summer Nationals and other events in the region this summer. ... Lucas Oil Series regular, seventh-starting Garrett Alberson moved into the runner-up position on a lap-33 restart and pressured Troutman in the late stages, finishing 0.888 of a second back. ... After advancing from ninth to cross the checkers in third, Bob Gardner was disqualified for a deck-height violation. ... Fourth-starting Jeff Larson inherited the third position. ... Pole-starting Frank Heckenast Jr. faded to finish fourth. ... Clay Stuckey advanced 12 positions and finished seventh. ... Matt Furman slowed to draw the race's final caution on lap 39; he completed four more laps and finished ninth. ... Chris Simpson slowed from fourth on lap 38 and pulled off, relegating him to finish 10th. ... Piloting the backup car owned by Bob Gardner, crewman Jake Rainey started 18th and finished 13th. ... Ryan Unzicker drew the race's second caution when he slowed from seventh on lap 24 with fuel pressure issues. ... Series points leader Jason Feger pulled off on lap 21, just prior to Unzicker's mechanical woes. ... Jake Little spun to bring out the first caution on lap nine. ... Tuesday's feature was slowed by four separate incidents and lasted 21 minutes, with eight competitors completing 50 laps; nine were running at the finish. ... Johnathan Huston and Austin Howes scratched.
On the move: Justin Kay of Wheatland, Iowa, started 23rd and finished fifth.
