Justin Zeitner en route to winning Saturday's Gail & Karen Hampel Memorial.
What won the race: Pole-starting Justin Zeitner of Malvern, Iowa, led all 30 laps unchallenged to win Saturday's $4,000 Gail & Karen Hampel Memorial at Adams County Speedway. Zeitner captured his fifth Malvern Bank Series win of the season and the 12th of his career; it's his fourth career Hoker Trucking Series triumph and his first of the season.
Quotable: “Yeah we had a pretty race car,” Zeitner said. “We weren’t very good all night, early, I didn’t feel like. My white car has been rolling pretty good, so we took some stuff off it and put it on this car. It seemed to work out, it was pretty good there.”
Key notes: Registering his best career finish, seventh-starting Dylan Sillman moved into the runner-up position on lap 21 and trailed Zeitner the rest of the way, finishing a distant 3.852 seconds back. ... Andrew Kosiski and Chad Holladay exchanged third place multiple times in the closing laps, with Kosiski prevailing to complete the podium and Holladay settling for fourth. ... Charlie McKenna advanced three positions and finished sixth. ... Malvern Bank Series points leader, Tad Pospisil lost three spots and finished seventh. ... Coming off a rough weekend at Huset's Speedway that featured a violent crash, Jesse Sobbing started 10th and finished ninth. ... Bill Leighton Jr. and Jason Hahne spun while battling for eighth to draw the race's only caution on lap two; neither completely rebounded, with Leighton finishing 16th and Hahne in 22nd. ... Saturday's 14-minute feature saw 14 drivers complete 30 laps with 25 running at the finish.
On the move: Kyle Berck of Marquette, Neb., started 12th and finished fifth.
