What won the race: Pole-starting Kyle Peterlin used an inside move entering turn one to take the lead on lap eight at Hibbing Raceway, cruising to win Saturday's $5,000 WISSOTA Late Model feature at his home track. Peterlin, who collected Friday's $5,000 prize at Gondik Law Speedway, secured his fourth victory in the last 12 days and his sixth overall of the season.
Quotable: “I’ve had entire seasons where I haven’t made this much money,” Peterlin said. “I don’t even know what to say, this is unbelievable. I feel like I should retire after this year, I don’t know if I’m gonna be able to top it. I just keep working on the car. I’ve been really solid here. Superior blew my mind that I was even good last night, cause I haven’t been good (there) in forever.”
Key notes: Third-starting Jeff Provinzino moved into the runner-up position on lap 12 and trailed Peterlin the rest of the way, finishing a distant 3.751 seconds back. ... Second-starting Rick Niemi led the first seven laps before giving way to Peterlin and Provinzino, settling for third. ... Harry Hanson started and finished fourth. ... Hibbing track points leader Derek Vesel lost two spots and finished eighth. ... Danny Vang advanced two positions and finished ninth. ... The lone caution flew when 12th-running Skeeter Estey left the racing surface on lap 10 and called it a night. ... Saturday's 10-minute feature saw 13 drivers complete 30 laps with 15 running at the finish. ... The WISSOTA-sanctioned tripleheader concludes with Sunday's $5,000-to-win event at Halvor Lines (Minn.) Speedway.
On the move: Kevin Burdick of Proctor, Minn., started 10th and finished seventh.
Winner's sponsors: Peterlin’s Rocket Chassis carries sponsorship from Town & Country Garages & Cabins, Up North Lettering, Grandma and Grandpa Peterlin, Schaeffer’s Racing Oil, Speedwerx, Shocks by Hammer, AFCO Brakes, Allstar Performance and Factory Team Snap Signs.
