What won the race: Taking the point from pacesetter Jadon Frame with an outside move on lap 33, fourth-starting Josh Henry of Newport, Tenn., led the final 18 laps to win Friday's $5,000 Never Forget 50 at Mountain View Raceway. Henry captured his first career XR Workin' Man Series triumph and his first Super Late Model victory.
Quotable: “It’s my very first Super (Late Model) win, I mean, it’s pretty emotional,” Henry said. “I appreciate everyone who has ever helped me. I rolled the bottom (of the track) forever there, I mean I thought I was gonna be really good on the top, but I didn’t want to show it too early. I was afraid I was gonna cut my tire down (running the high line), but everything worked out.”
Key notes: Third-starting Frame, of Winchester, Tenn., led laps 2-32 before giving way to Henry and finishing 0.966 of a second back; Frame was awarded a $500 bonus for using an open trailer. ... Fifth-starting Rusty Ballenger regained third on lap 43 and completed the podium; Ballenger collected the $500 bonus as the highest-finishing non-open motor. ... Eighth-starting Heath Hindman battled Ballenger for third in the closing laps before settling for fourth. ... Michael Smith improved two positions and rounded-out the top five. ... Pole-starting John Ownbey faded to finish sixth; Ownbey was awarded $450 in bonuses for utilizing a non-open motor and an open trailer, along with winning his heat race and starting on the pole. ... Brenden Smith gained seven spots and finished ninth; Smith collected a $100 bonus for traveling the furthest to race. ... After leading the first lap from the outside front row, Josh Walker called it a night on lap 28. ... Friday's 50-lap feature lasted 24 minutes, with 13 drivers completing the distance and 19 running at the finish. ... Kelby Norwood and Addison Cardwell each scratched from the main event.
On the move: Zach Shannon of Wartburg, Tenn., started 19th and finished seventh.
