What won the race: After battling door-to-door and taking the lead from Dave Hess Jr. with an inside move on lap 16, second-starting Jason Genco of Frewsburg, N.Y., led the final 25 laps to win Saturday's $5,000 September Sweep finale at Eriez Speedway. Genco's victory matches the richest payday of his career.
Key notes: Third-starting Dave Hess Jr. led laps 5-15 before being overtaken by Genco and finishing 2.566 seconds back; Hess competed after Friday's scary rollover incident that left him going to the hospital for further observation. ... Sixth-starting Rusty Schlenk grabbed third on lap 32 and completed the podium. ... Andy Boozel led the first four laps from the pole before slipping to finish fourth. ... Darrell Bossard improved six positions and finished sixth. ... After winning Friday's $5,000 opener, 2023 track champion Mike Knight lost three spots and finished 10th. ... Saturday's 40-lap feature was slowed by four cautions and lasted 23 minutes, with eight drivers completing the entire distance. Also serving as the Bob Rohrer Memorial, the event honored Rohrer, the former track owner and promoter since 2006; Rohrer purchased Eriez in April, 2006, and revitalized the grounds, turning the track into a first-class facility.
On the move: Steve Kania started 16th and finished seventh at his home track.
Winner's sponsors: Genco’s Steve Swenko Motorsports Rocket Chassis carries sponsorship from JP Craig Racing, SKF Racing, Sensible Sales & Leasing, Kwik Fill, Geraci & Company Accountants, The Horseshoe Inn, Jamestown Mattress, Jamestown Electro Plating, Husky Enterprises, Big D Welding, Holiday Harbor Marina, Close Racing Supply and Penske Racing Shocks by JDS Racing.
