Dan Angelicchio poses in victory lane after winning Saturday's $5,000 prize.
What won the race: Taking the point from race-long leader Colton Flinner on lap 24, Dan Angelicchio of Greensburg, Pa., paced the remaining distance to win Saturday's second annual 40-lap Rick Frazee Memorial at Latrobe Speedway. Angelicchio grabbed his first unsanctioned 604 Crate Late Model feature victory of the season at the western Pennsylvania oval.
Quotable: "I have so many people to thank. My dad, my brother, everyone that helped us. (Friday) night, we changed motors; it was a late night, and everyone came out and helped me today," Angelicchio said. "Joe Zulisky lent me a carburetor because ours was messing up all night. I owe him big time. It changed the whole car obviously from earlier.”
Key notes: After leading the first 23 laps, Allison Park, Pa.'s Flinner settled for the runner-up spot, 0.795 of a second behind Angelicchio. ... Clinton Hersh went from fifth-to-third on a lap-31 restart and completed the podium finishers. ... Super Late Model rookie Braeden Dillinger slipped as low as sixth before rebounding to finish fourth. ... Ryan Frazee ran as high as second in the early laps before fading to finish fifth. ... Saturday's 25-minute feature was slowed by two cautions, with 13 drivers completing the entire distance and 14 running at the finish. ... The event honored Rick Frazee of Addison, Pa., who died March 27, 2021, at the age of 58 after a two-year bout with Leukemia. Frazee managed his trucking company, R.W. Frazee Trucking LLC, and raced with his family nearly every weekend since the late 1990s. ... Lane Brock, Mike Laughard, Marino Angelicchio and Jay McCracken all scratched from the feature.
Winner's sponsors: Angelicchio’s Rocket Chassis was powered by a Race One Crate engine and sports sponsorship from Royal Purple Synthetic Oils and TBM Brakes.
