Josh Putnam (212) outran Cade Dillard (97) and others at Whynot.
What won the race: Fourth-starting Josh Putnam of Florence, Ala., grabbed the lead from Cade Dillard on lap nine and paced the remaining circuits to claim Friday’s second 30-lap Coors Light Fall Classic preliminary feature at Whynot Motorsports Park. The recently crowned Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series champion finished 0.768 of a second ahead of Morgan Bagley.
Key notes: Putnam's $3,000 triumph came six days after he clinched the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series title in the first-year tour's season finale at Swainsboro (Ga.) Raceway. ... Bagley made a last-lap move to grab second place from Dillard, who settled for third after leading laps 2-8. ... Outside polesitter Neil Baggett outgunned Dillard to lead the race's first lap but faded to a seventh-place finish. ... Hall of Famer Billy Moyer finished fourth while defending Fall Classic winner Spencer Hughes placed fifth. ... The 29th annual Coors Light Fall Classic concludes Saturday with a 60-lap, $15,000-to-win feature for Super Late Models.
On the move: Bo Slay of Milton, Fla., started 19th and finished 11th.
Winner's sponsors: Putnam’s Jeff Greer-owned Rocket Chassis has a Jay Dickens Racing Engine and sponsorship from Zippy Auto’s Sales, Horne Towing & Salvage, Morris Brothers Construction, Randle Chupp Consulting, Southern Off-Road Surgeons, 441 Race Wraps, Gabe's Tire and Towing, North Alabama Ink, Thornton Iron & Metal, Quarter's Bus & RV and Silver Creek Sales.
