Logan Martin celebrates Friday's $5,000 Comp Cams Series victory at Arrowhead.
What won the race: Using an inside move to take the point from race-long leader Tony Jackson Jr. on lap 21, eighth-starting Logan Martin of West Plains, Mo., paced the remaining circuits to win Friday's 35-lap Triple Threat feature at Arrowhead Speedway. Martin earned $5,000 for his 12th career Comp Cams Super Dirt Series victory and his first since topping last year's season opener at Greenwood, La.'s Boothill Speedway.
Quotable: “(I was trying to) make those guys make mistakes,” Martin said. “I was able to poke my nose in there, show my nose and get them guys thinking. They made a couple mistakes and I threw a couple good sliders and was able to set sail on that cushion. (The) track was right tonight. I was able to come from eighth to win ... in Super Late Model racing, that’s pretty good.”
Key notes: Second-starting Tony Jackson Jr. led the first 20 laps before falling to Martin's turn-one slide job. The Lebanon, Mo., driver slipped to third before regaining the runner-up spot on a lap-33 restart and finishing 2.056 seconds back. ... Seventh-starting Morgan Bagley ran as high as second before giving way to Jackson on the late-race restart and settling for third. ... Jon Mitchell improved four positions and finished seventh. ... Pole-starting Scott Crigler was forced three-wide at the race's initial green flag and never contended for the win, slipping to finish eighth. ... Shane Hebert rebounded to finish 10th after slowing to draw the race's first caution on lap 13. ... Tyler Stevens ran as high as second in the early laps before slowing from eighth to bring out the second yellow on lap 19. ... Tristan Chamberlain slowed from third to draw the race's third stoppage on lap 23. ... Clay Stuckey nosed into the frontstretch wall following contact with Parmley to cause the race's fifth and final yellow on lap 32. ... The feature lasted 26 minutes, with 19 drivers completing the distance and 23 running at the finish.
On the move: Kyle Beard of Trumann, Ark., started 10th and finished fourth.
Winner's sponsors: Martin’s Rocket Chassis is powered by a Cornett Racing Engine and carries sponsorship from Hughes Towing LLC, Adams Construction, AIM Services, Mr. Dent Collision Repair, Schoenfeld Headers, Integra Shocks and Midwest Sheet Metal.
