Kyle Hardy captured a $3,000 victory at Hagerstown.
What won the race: Sixth-starting Kyle Hardy of Stephens City, Va., fought off a late charge from Walker Arthur of Forest, Va., who exchanged slide jobs with the winner during a chaotic finish. Arthur was placed 20th in the finishing order for retaliating on the cool-down lap against Hardy, who originally took the lead on an early restart in Hagerstown's opener.
Quotable: “I don’t really like running people over, but I got down there on the bottom and it was super slippery,” Hardy said. “I got my front into the inside wall and I got into him pretty hard. It’s racing. He’d probably do it back to me. It was a little chilly but other than that I had fun today.”
Key notes: Hardy won his fourth career race at Hagerstown; he recorded three victories at the track in 2014, including a career-high $4,400 triumph in the Speedy Hayes Memorial. ... Joey Leavell spun for the first caution. ... Reigning track champion Roy Deese Jr. of Laurel, Md., finished third. ... All 23 entrants transferred to the feature; Trever Feathers of Winchester, Va., had troubles while leading the third heat and scratched from the main event along with Kenny Moreland and Kyle Lear. ... Paul Cursey won the Limited Late Model feature.
On the move: Hardy advanced from sixth to record the $3,000 victory.
Winner's sponsors: Hardy drives a No. 99 MastersBilt by Huey machine with sponsorship from Aire Serv, Anthony’s Pizza, Auto Glass Experts, Culligan Water Treatment, George Cline Construction and Doug Hughes.
