What won the race: Overcoming an early-race challenge from Kevin Burdick, pole-starting Tyler Peterson of Hickson, N.D., led the entire distance of Sunday's 40-lap Structural Buildings WISSOTA Challenge Series stop at Granite City Motor Park. Peterson's $3,000 payday marked his fourth career series victory and snapped Cole Searing's two-race winning streak.

Quotable: “I was getting scared because I saw (Shane Sabraski) right behind me and this is his home track, so I was getting a little paranoid,” Peterson said. “We had a lot of time to think about it during that open red (flag). The tires, first of all, tried warming those up as soon as we got back going, they seal over pretty quick. That’s what you’re thinking about (under the red) .. I looked up at the scoreboard, you got Shane right behind me that’s got a million laps here .. just had to run a consistent line and we did that and got the win.”

Key notes: The second-starting Burdick, of Proctor, Minn., powered around the outside of Peterson in turn two on the second circuit, only to overdrive turn three and hand the lead back to Peterson before completing the lap. Burdick faded 11th. ... Sixth-starting Shane Sabraski used the middle line to make a late-race charge, advancing from fifth to second in five laps and finishing 1.448 seconds back. ... Cole Searing, winner of Friday's season opener at I-94 and Saturday's stop at Viking, improved 15 positions and finished fourth. Searing transferred through the consolation after a caution was charged to him in the second heat race, following late-race contact that sent Ryan Mikkelson spinning. ... Jeff Massingill gained eight spots and finished ninth. ... Rick Niemi drew the race's second and final stoppage when his car nosed into the turn-two wall and came to rest on its roof. Track safety officials needed 20 minutes to get Niemi's car righted and perform minor fencing repairs; Niemi wasn't hurt. ... The first caution flew on lap 24 for debris. ... The feature lasted 38 minutes, with 18 drivers completing the distance. ... Scott Lehn scratched from the feature lineup. ... Jesse Glenz and Dylan Kromschroeder each made significant contact with the frontstretch wall during time trials, ending their nights.
