What won the race: Regaining the lead for good as Cole Searing slowed with a flat left-rear tire on the final lap, fifth-starting Tyler Peterson of Hickson, N.D., captured Friday's 40-lap Structural Buildings WISSOTA Challenge Series victory at Fiesta City Speedway. Peterson's $3,000 payday marked his second tour triumph of the season and the fifth of his career.

Quotable: “We got a little hairy (with lapped traffic) and (Cole Searing) got over my nosepiece and I think that’s where his flat (tire) came from,” Peterson said. “I hate that for him, but you take ‘em when you can get ‘em. This track was cowboy up for sure, my car is bent in like 90 places from those holes, but I think it was a show for the fans.”

Key notes: The pole-starting Searing, of Huron, S.D., led laps 13-28 before a lapped car slowed abruptly in front of him, causing him to make contact and ultimately lose the lead to Peterson for the 29th and 30th circuits. Searing regained control from laps 31-39 before his left-rear completely deflated on the final lap and he limped across the checkers 0.804 of a second behind Peterson. ... Searing (three wins) and Peterson (two) have accounted for all the WISSOTA Challenge Series victories thus far. ... Second-starting Matt Gilbertson led the opening 12 laps before giving way to Searing and Peterson, settling for third at his home track. ... The 40-lapper was slowed twice and lasted 20 minutes, with 15 drivers completing the distance. ... Dustin Johanneck scratched from the main event lineup. ...
