What won the race: Randy Weaver of Crossville, Tenn., led all 60 laps for $7,500 and his 28th career Southern All Star Series victory. With his triumph, Weaver completed a perfect month of March during which he found victory lane in all four of his starts. Fellow Longhorn Chassis drivers Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, Ga., and Casey Roberts of Toccoa, Ga., rounded out the podium in a race marred by several cautions.
Key notes: The winner was never seriously challenged. ... Todd Morrow, Anthony Sanders and Chris Madden tangled on the second lap. ... Doug Sanders spun on the third lap. ... Brent Dixon flipped in the third turn on the sixth circuit; he was apparently unhurt. ... Donald Bradsher drew a lap-16 caution; Jim Rasey spun on the ensuing restart. ... On the second attempt at a lap-16 restart, multiple cars piled up in the turn one, including those of Chris Ferguson, Dennis Franklin, Madden, Dillon Tidmore and Dustin Mitchell, who got upside down. No injuries were reported. The accident blocked the track and caused just over a 30-minute delay. ... Riley Hickman spun on lap 38 after tangling with a slower car while racing in the top five. ... Madden, of nearby Gray Court, S.C., was a last-moment arrival after attending his grandmother's funeral. ... Steve Banal won the SECA feature for Crate Late Models.
On the move: Davenport rallied from seventh to record a runner-up finish, while consolation race winner Jason Hiett of Oxford, Ala., improved from 13th to fifth.
Winner's sponsors: Weaver's Outlaw Racing Southeast Longhorn Chassis is powered by a Cornett Ford engine and sponsored by Stone Land Cleaning and Excavating, Mission Transport, A.F. Stone Professional Medical Services and The Bailey Company.
