Bobby Pierce celebrates his fourth straight WoO victory.
What won the race: Pouncing when fellow Illinoisan Brandon Sheppard got too high in turn two, Bobby Pierce of Oakwood, Ill., grabbed the lead on the 28th lap Saturday at Sharon Speedway and cruised to a $15,000 payday for his fourth consecutive World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series victory. Sheppard, who led laps 3-27, settled for the runner-up spot, 3.269 seconds behind Pierce with sixth-starting Ryan Gustin just behind in third. Pierce, who lapped all but nine competitors, added the victory to Friday's $10,000 triumph at the 3/8-mile oval.
Quotable: "It was tough. We really gambled on the tires. I didn't really think it was a gamble, I guess, I thought more people would go with what we had on, but completely opposite from what we did last night," Pierce said. "That's how it goes, I guess. It's pretty cool to have the tire choice and you know, (with) how much it rained today, we just figured that'd be best."
Key notes: Pierce has 26 career WoO victories, eight in 2024. ... He'd twice won three in a row last season, but the four consecutive victories are the best in tour history for the reigning champion. ... Polesitter Dennis Erb Jr. led the first two laps and finished sixth. ... Two cautions slowed the action. ... Eric Wilson drew a lap-16 yellow. ... Tour rookie Tristan Chamberlain slowed on the first lap when he lost his power steering. ... Nick Hoffman was forced to take a provisional starting spot in the feature after failing to go to the scales following his heat race and was forced to take a provisional; he finished a lap down in 12th and lost significant points to tour-leading Brandon Sheppard. ... Max McLaughlin scratched from time trials after slapping the wall during hot laps.
On the move: Kyle Bronson of Brandon, Fla., started 10th and finished fifth.
